Product Safety Information

We want you to enjoy your new loudspeakers as much as possible. To maximise your enjoyment it is important that loudspeakers are used in a safe manner. Please take the time to read the following information concerning safe use of your loudspeakers.

Professional loudspeakers are able to produce high sound pressure levels. Please take care of your ears. Hearing damage is cumulative. With long exposure sound pressure levels over 90 dB can damage people's hearing. Sounds in excess of 120 dB may cause immediate irreversible hearing damage.

Please refer to the following advice when setting up or dismantling Traction Sound loudspeakers.

  1. Never stand close to loudspeakers that are playing at a high level.
  2. Ensure there is adequate distance between loudspeakers and the public. Your local authority will be able to give you Health and Safety advice for this.
  3. When using loudspeaker stands make sure the stand is on a level surface and the legs are fully extended. Only use stands that are rated to support the weight of the loudspeaker. Do not place more than one speaker on each stand. If it is windy you may need to add some weight to the bottom of the stand. Similar precautions need to be applied if you are using a pole mount with a bass loudspeaker.
  4. Position cables so that they do not present a trip hazard.
  5. Only stack loudspeakers on a floor or stage that is level and solid.
  6. Secure stacks of loudspeakers to prevent them from falling down or moving around.
  7. Only qualified people using safe rigging methods should suspend loudspeakers. Fixings must be secured to the building structure. If in doubt consult with a specialist such as a structural engineer or architect.
  8. When suspending loudspeakers from eyebolts only use forged shoulder eyebolts with a thread length of at least 30mm. Position a flat washer between the eyebolt and the enclosure. Avoid eyebolts that are formed from a bent steel rod.
  9. When using wall brackets only use mounting hardware that has been specified and approved by Traction Sound for use with Traction Sound speakers.
  10. When flying loudspeakers it is advisable to use thread-locking compounds to eyebolts and other bolts in order to avoid any possibility of loosening.
  11. Do not mix aluminum and steel flying hardware, as this will cause corrosion.
  12. Check your loudspeaker hardware and flying equipment regularly for any visual or mechanical failure. Replace damaged or suspect items when necessary.
  13. Protect your loudspeakers and electronics from freezing and do not expose them to humidity, water or rain without protection.
